While this level of success rate is acceptable for die-hard enthusiasts, would new players just getting into the hobby enjoy an experience with such an unlikely chance of escape?
Scott Nicholson, a Game Design Professor specialising in escape rooms has attempted to answer this question. By conducting a study of 175 rooms Nicholson found that the average success rate across them was around 41%, while difficult rooms should be designed for approximately 36% of players escaping and easier rooms should aim for around a 62% success rate.
